How Has Johnslots’ Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Changed and Developed Over Time?
JohnSlots has always recognised the importance of diversity and inclusion, but our approach to it has changed over time, as we’ve made a structured DEI policy that sets out clear guidelines of what we expect as we’re dedicated to creating a workplace that’s inclusive and welcoming with fair representation for all.
Can You Share Insights Into Johnslots’ Dei Mission and How It Connects With Gentoo Media’s Overarching Objectives?
Our mission is to promote fairness, representation, and accessibility. So we aim to create an environment where employees as well as users feel valued and safe – no matter where they’re from or what their background is.

In Your View, Why is Fostering a Strong DEI Culture Crucial for Both Johnslots and the Wider Gaming Industry?
A strong DEI culture is vital for creativity, innovation, and customer engagement. We’ve seen first-hand how diverse teams perform better – as they can offer a fresh perspective that will ultimately lead to the improving the quality of content, as well as allowing us to make better decisions for our business.
In our industry it’s important to have diverse representation in order to connect well with our audience as we have a wide range of readers from all types of backgrounds.
What Concrete Steps Has Johnslots Implemented to Promote DEI in Hiring and Workplace Policies?
JohnSlots has introduced a number of measures to support DEI when it comes to the hiring and employment process like reducing bias by implementing race-neutral and blind recruitment policies, as we only care about skills and experience and nothing more.
We’re also committed to providing equal pay and providing salaries that are fair across all of our roles.
How Does Johnslots Actively Work to Tackle the Persistent Issue of the Gender Pay Gap?
We’re aware that pay equity is a huge issue – so we conduct salary reviews on a regular basis to monitor this, and if there are any discrepancies then we can address them.
We ensure that all individuals are paid based on their job role, experience and performance only – and we give all of our employees the same opportunities to reach their desired career goals if they do well and want to progress further – regardless of their gender or background.
What Are the Biggest DEI-related Challenges and Potential Growth Areas Johnslots is Currently Navigating?
Like a lot of companies, we strive to improve and evolve in the right direction, so we continue to work on reducing unconscious bias and educating our employees to ensure that we’re genuinely making a positive step towards promoting representation across all aspects of our business.
Another one of our priorities is improving our accessibility, so that both our workplace and website can be easily accessible to people of all abilities, and we welcome any comments and feedback on what we can do to enhance this further.

Feedback is so valuable when it comes to our DEI efforts, and any input that we’ve had has been so useful when trying to improve our content – like readability and design elements.

Looking Ahead, What Are Johnslots’ Key Priorities and Strategies for Advancing DEI in the Future?
Well, as mentioned before – enhancing our website accessibility is an important plan for the future as we want our platform to be as user-friendly as possible as we recognise that all of our users have various needs or may have complex issues that might be a barrier for them.
And although we’re pleased with the way our hiring process works, we’re still looking at ways to strengthen it further to make sure that it’s the best that it can be.
Finally, we want to develop more content strategies to reflect our diversity to give our readers a richer user experience as well as uphold our high standards on inclusivity across the board.
